7. Eligibility Criteria (पात्रता मानदंड)

Candidates applying for the post of Local Bank Officer (LBO) in IOB must satisfy all eligibility parameters specified by the Bank as on 01 August 2026. Candidate must be either:

  • A Citizen of India, OR
  • A subject of Nepal, OR
  • A subject of Bhutan, OR
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, OR
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India (provided an eligibility certificate has been issued by Govt. of India).

Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The candidate must possess a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate proving that he/she is a graduate on the day he/she registers online and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering.


Mandatory Local Language Requirement & LPT

Candidates should be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the desired local language of the applied state (Tamil for TN, Kannada for KA, Marathi for MH, Gujarati for GJ). Candidates who have NOT studied the specified local language in 10th or 12th standard will be required to appear for a Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) prior to the Personal Interview. Advance Increments for Banking Experience

Probation Period
