Directorate General Assam Rifles, Shillong has released advertisement Memo No. I.12016/A Branch (Rect)/2026/1310 for recruitment to 354 Group 'B' & Group 'C' Technical and Tradesman Posts. 6. Qualification & Age Criteria for All 17 Technical Trades
Candidates must satisfy the post-wise Educational Qualification and Age Limit as on 01 July 2026 as listed below (Appendix 'A'):
1. Warrant Officer (Cipher)
- Educational Qualification: 10+2 / Intermediate Examination in Science stream with Physics, Mathematics, and English from a recognized Board/University OR Diploma in IT / CS / Engineering.
- Age Limit: 18 to 25 Years (Born between 01 July 2001 and 01 July 2008).
2. Rifleman (Electrical Fitter Signal)
- Educational Qualification: 10th Class / Matriculation Pass from a recognized Board + ITI Certificate in Electrical / Electronics Fitter Trade.
- Age Limit: 18 to 23 Years.
3. Rifleman (Lineman Field)
- Educational Qualification: 10th Pass from a recognized Board + ITI Certificate in Lineman / Electrician trade (minimum 2 years).
- Age Limit: 18 to 23 Years.
4. Rifleman (Armourer / Engineer Equipment Mechanic / Recovery Vehicle Mechanic)
- Educational Qualification: 10th Class Pass from a recognized Board + ITI Certificate in respective trade (Armourer, Fitter, Mechanical, Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver's License as applicable).
- Age Limit: 18 to 23 Years.
5. Warrant Officer (Operation Theatre Technician / Physiotherapist)
- Educational Qualification: 10+2 with Science + Diploma in Operation Theatre Technique or Physiotherapy from a recognized Institution + 1 Year practical experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital.
- Age Limit: 18 to 25 Years.
6. Rifleman (Mason / Welder / Upholster / Metalsmith / Vehicle Mechanic)
- Educational Qualification: 10th Pass from a recognized Board + ITI Certificate / Trade skill experience in respective trade.
- Age Limit: 18 to 23 Years.
Age Relaxation Summary:
Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 Years for SC/ST, 3 Years for OBC, 3 Years for Ex-Servicemen (6 yrs for OBC ESM, 8 yrs for SC/ST ESM), and up to 40 Years for Central Govt Servants.

All registered candidates must report for PET/PST at designated rally centers in Jorhat or Diphu (Assam). Timings and track laps are measured automatically using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tracking chips.

Candidates qualifying the RFID PET/PST round will be issued hall tickets for the Computer Based Test (CBT) / Written Examination consisting of 100 Objective MCQs:

9. Trade Skill Test & Shortlisting Ratio (1:4 Ratio)
Candidates passing the CBT written exam will be shortlisted for the practical Trade Skill Test. Key features include:
- Shortlisting Ratio: Shortlisting for Trade Skill Test will be made strictly on merit of CBT written exam in the ratio of 4 times the number of vacancies (1:4 ratio) in each category/trade.
- Qualifying Nature: The Trade Skill Test is qualifying in nature. No marks will be awarded for Trade Skill Test.
- Next Stage Eligibility: Only candidates declared PASS in the Trade Skill Test will be eligible for Document Verification (DV) and Detailed Medical Exam (DME).
10. Detailed Medical Exam (DME) & Review Medical Exam (RME)
Medical examinations will be conducted in accordance with uniform guidelines for recruitment medical examination in CAPFs & AR (MHA UO dated 20 May 2015 and amended from time to time):
- DME Stage: Thorough physical & medical checkup by military medical board at Shillong / designated base hospitals.
- RME Stage: Unfit candidates in DME can apply for Review Medical Examination (RME) within prescribed period.
